Chocolate Mint Cookies

Hello, everybody! The Fresh Pioneer is here and we have a tasty little cookie recipe if you're in need of something other than Snickerdoodles or Chocolate Chip.
Our walnut tree is producing giant walnuts this year. Hooray!
So, a friend made these and I told her I had to have the recipe! She told me it was basically a chocolate chip cookie recipe with an added 1/2 cup of cocoa and substituted mint chips. But for those of you who don't have the regular chocolate chip recipe memorized like I do, here it is:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup butter
 3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
 1 tsp vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350F before starting. And of course, we separated our dough because there those among us who do not love mint *raises hand* I like mint in theory. I love the look of grasshopper pie and that pale green of mint flavored items. But mint always makes me feeling like I'm brushing my teeth. Real mint is different (mint in iced tea, for example).  Anway, for the plain batch, I added a teensy tiny bit of orange flavoring because chocolate and orange are perfect together!
 On the pan...
Close up. Say "going to be delicious"!!
 Out of the oven!
Stacking on a plate for presentation.

We stacked them in a pretty mini bundt cloche or dome. I found it at a thrift store years ago and I'm sure the plate doesn't go with it but it's soooooo pretttyyyyyy.
So, have a warm out of the oven cookie and stay a while. :)
